My Dream

The First Property – My 1 Bedroom + Den Condo

The condo is a spacious, south-west facing unit with a 200sqft terrace, where I have installed large planter boxes for my gardening.  Inside, there are exposed brick walls, a gas fireplace, an open concept kitchen with granite countertops, and an island/dining room table combination.  The floors are hardwood, stained a deep espresso colour, and there is enough furniture to seat as many guests as I’d like to have over.

The master bedroom features a large, glittering chandelier, a walk-in closet, and a 4 piece ensuite with jacuzzi tub.

Ignore the text along the bottom, I just loved this photo!!!

The building is close to both downtown and my office, with a concierge, rooftop deck, indoor and outdoor pool, and exercise facilities.  I have an underground parking space that I own.  I am walking distance from a grocery store, restaurants and entertainment.  My friends and family visit me frequently.

My Next Real Estate Purchase:  The House

The house is a combination of country charm and big city glamour.  There is stonework fireplace in the living room which burns merrily in winter.  The floor is a beautiful wide plank pine, with large knots and a clear stain.  The furniture is a creamy ivory, with multi-coloured pillows strewn about like jelly beans.  There are large leaded windows overlooking a pool and tranquil garden.  The main floor is open concept with wide beams, and the kitchen is a chef’s dream with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and island.  There are fresh flowers everywhere.

Upstairs, the Master bedroom is an absolutely stunning retreat, with a large king sized bed and pillowtop mattress, nearly floor to ceiling leaded windows draped in rich fabric. In addition, there is a 5 piece ensuite bathroom with his and hers sinks, a large jacuzzi tub, and glass showerstall with Skylight. I’m also lucky enough to have a spacious ensuite dressing room area, with a walk-in closet, shoe closet and sitting area.

In a wing of the house is a separate pottery studio, with a full kiln, wheel, and glazes. There are large windows, and it is insulated so that I can do my pottery all winter long.

My favourite feature is the library, which I have decorated in a modern French style. There are floor to ceiling shelves painted white. There is a gas fireplace with carved wood mantle. At the window is a large desk with a big bouquet of flowers and my computer. Seated in front of the fireplace is a comfy loveseat with a cozy knit blanket draped across it. There is a gauzy chandelier and wall sconces. It is feminine and my perfect workspace.

The Car
It’s a shiny dark grey brand new soft-top Audi convertible, with leather seats, Bose sound system with audio input for my ipod, Sirius satellite radio, and a hybrid engine (hey, this is my dream, remember?)

The Lifestyle

I work out of pleasure, not necessity.  When I feel like working, I do some freelance deals, as a writer or a consultant.  I continue blogging no matter what, sharing my adventures.

I travel to a minimum of three new countries per year. The first three on my list are Italy, Costa Rica, and Ireland. The next are England, Germany, and Holland. Now that I am more comfortable traveling, I try Thailand, Egypt, and Morocco.

I also am a professional writer. I have published one historical fiction novel already, and am working on two others, mostly fiction with a twist of fantasy. I write the occasional guest article for papers, and revel in the joy of having the freedom to write full time.
